Real: Red hat, plaid and gray. A lesson in winter layering

Although the winter is almost done (hopefully), I still believe some of you would benefit from imaginative layering in the cold days to come. I am no expert but I do get these great ideas on how to combine items in my closet as never before. This could possibly be due to my inability to shop these days, partly for not having any (and I mean ANY) room in my closet, and partly due to my lack of mula for these shopping expeditions I have became accustomed to. Let me get to the point before you scroll down to the pictures (if you have not done so already in which case you are not even reading this so I don't care what I write because you suck, kidding, kidding).

Ahem.
One of my favorite things to do in the past year is wearing dresses and layering on top of them. You usually need a shirt which doesn't have a deep v-neck of some sort but something that is pretty closed on top. That is to cover the whole top of the dress and not have things sticking out and looking just plain awkward. Once you have the dress and the shirt, I would suggest to belt it as I have, just to add some shape to the outfit. Then you can continue with a denim, plaid shirt, sweater, fur vest and so on. Put on some hot booties, a matching coat, and voila! - you have a stylish, cozy, warm winter outfit. Do be careful not to be too colorful. Stick to neutrals or lots of black and denim with one accent color (as I have).

Well, this is all.

Real: Fur and burgundy

It was one of those sunny, freezing days in New York. While headed to one of the craziest brunch parties, I was walking around at 2 pm in a full blown party outfit. Tallest heels included. Nothing is strange in New York and neither was I.

This combo perfectly defines my style this winter. I have paired my favorite color of the moment - burgundy with the ultimate favorite color - black. I also love the jacquard detail of the zara pants which I bought on a sale and were really a bargain. I've been rocking the burgundy accessories for these cold days, and they look great with my winter gray coat as well. The fur coat is my favorite though. I love love love fur coats. And don't say that it's wrong and you kill animals blah blah. Excuse me for not being politically correct on this one, you can see and feel the difference between real and faux fur. I'm sorry, but it's true. You're not fooling anyone baby. If someone feels insulated...oh well. If it's any consolation - I only own one and it's a short one :).

Obsessed with... Burgundy

It's definitely the color of the season. Why? Because it's cooler than red, because it goes so well with all neutrals in your closet, and because it's not boring. Also, you can apply it to any item - from leather skirts and pants (my favs in this color), heavy winter sweaters all the way to bags and nails. I have a hat, scarf and gloves in this amazing color and have been obsessed with it since then. Maybe you will see them in a post to come. In the mean time, enjoy this collage of burgundy deliciousness.

P.S. Are you fat yet? I hope you're getting there because after the holidays you will have no excuse for it.

Miroslava Duma Fashion Week Style 2012

While I hear the wind pounding down my windows in New York due to this lovely hurricane which decided to hit us, I am working on all these posts I've had on my mind for a while. I'm also raiding the fridge every twenty minutes. That's what happens when you're home. I'll try not to eat too much nutella. Let's see how that one goes.

Now, on to the real stuff. Miroslava Duma has been hitting the fashion weeks in very retro pieces, color blocked, geometrical, always with a beautiful piece of costume jewelry for added effect. She turned to print a few times - the dog print summer dress, the flower print dress as well the mesmerizing green flower blouse she paired with denim shorts. Nothing short of genius. She also wore some of-the-moment pieces like the Balenciaga sweatshirt and the german shepherd Givenchy jacket.

Why I love her style? She plays with colors, accessories, new prints and trends and incorporates them all together perfectly.

For your viewing pleasure... Miroslava Duma.

I love everything about this, from the trendy fall colors, to the leather pants and those gorgeous strappy sandals.
Love how casual and put together this looks. denim rocks. more about this in my next post! stay tuned.

jeans and a coat which stands out. note the burgundy velvet heels!
Monochrome. Addition of chunky jewelry and carefully thought-out bag.
a perfect summer dress

rocking the givenchy german shepherd jacket with the cutest black hermes cross body bag

The balenciaga sweatshirt worn over nothing with black tights. simple. gorgeous.

This one is my absolute favorite, even the white sock/sandal combination

mix of her looks. I adore the oversize white tailored suit as well as the perfect romper/turban combo she has going on there! Note the reuse of the denim shorts

Three dresses. Three styles.
1/ Denim country dress with a splash of animal print.
2. Asymmetrical print
3. true to her russian roots flower print dress
